Golden milk, also called turmeric milk, is something that most of us are no longer a stranger to. Because, well, google, marketing, and the growing food trendiness of this sweet drink over the last 5 to 7 years. You’ll easily find versions of golden milk everywhere — from coffee shops, to blogs, to premade mixes online. So naturally, in the spirit of spice and healthy choices, I felt I needed to share my rendition with you. Plus, as an added bonus, making this yourself will be cheaper and so much more flavorful!
As I’ve mentioned before with my Turmeric Wellness Toddy, turmeric holds a host of health benefits. It helps reduce inflammation, which is a root cause of many health issues (not all, please see your doctor!). When paired with a smidge of black pepper, the positive impact of turmeric is taken to the next level. So keep that in mind in all future uses of turmeric. Always try to pair it with a pinch of black pepper!
Okay, so besides the benefits to your bod, this golden milk just straight up tastes good! It’s got other spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and ground ginger which give it chai latte vibes. So cozy, so lovely, so happy. It’s a wonderful drink to start up or wind down your day with. And with the late spring rain we’re forecasted to have tomorrow in the NW, this is a perfect drink to savor the weather with.
Oh, and with the onset of summer coming up here, have no fear! You can sip this up to start your morning as is. Or you can transform this golden milk into a wonderful iced drink too! Just pour it over ice and sip it up with a straw.
As you work turmeric into your diet, if you haven’t already, I hope you give this happy drink a try!
