When you are gluten-free, it can be hard to have certain foods. Everything bagels (or bagels in general) are one of those things. But just because I can’t run to a local bagel shop or pick up a bag at the store doesn’t mean I have to live without the piece of these bagels that take them over the top.
Welcome to my world, Everything Bagel Seasoning!
The savory, crunchy, seedy top of the everything bagel… in a jar!

Honestly, this is hardly a recipe and you can truly tweak any of the ingredients to customize the balance of flavor as you like. If you’re a garlic person, add a little more. Don’t have black sesame seeds? Skip ’em! Prefer coarse Himalayan pink salt over sea salt? Go for it (actually, that would be really pretty, I wish I’d have thought of that before this moment)! Have some time and want to make your own flaky sea salt instead of straight up sea salt? Check this easy, scientific recipe for homemade flaky sea salt! Are you living a low-sodium life? Just keep that salt out of it! The sky is the limit with this everything bagel seasoning. And if you don’t want to get a big bag of each ingredient, you can see about going to the bulk section at your local grocery store if they have spices and seeds sold in bulk.
The best part about this seasoning blend is that it can be sprinkled on literally anything! Popcorn, eggs, toast, bread, BAGELS! Anything!! It adds an umami crunch to every bite.

Side note, and kinda random: I haven’t ventured into the sweet world with this quite yet, but I wouldn’t put it past me. Actually, I might be onto something — if you took out the garlic, even leaving it with the onion, I could see this working with something sweet. Don’t quote me on that. But I’m always up for kitchen experiments!

Everything Bagel Seasoning
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 1 ½ tablespoons dried minced garlic
- 1 ½ tablespoons dried minced onion
- 1 tablespoon sea salt or flaky sea salt if you're fancy (optional, see note)
Instructions
- In a jar, add all ingredients and stir or shake until well combined.
- Sprinkle on anything and everything your heart chooses — popcorn, bread, avocado toast, eggs, rice and more!
