No nuts here! This is a simple, scrumptious, snacky granola that is full of seedy goodness. It contains sunflower seeds, sun butter, sesame seeds and hemp seeds. The sun butter makes it slightly less crunchy than a typical granola but it gives this sunflower & sesame granola an extra dose of satiating power with that extra protein!
Side note, I used to make a habit of eating sunflower and sesame seeds during the luteal phase of my menstrual cycle per my naturopath’s recommendation. So this is just a fun, tasty way to incorporate that!
This recipe is simple and mostly a matter of mixing everything together, baking, cooling, breaking apart, and crunching it up! If you give this sunflower & sesame granola a try, let me know how it turns out!
Sunflower & Sesame Granola
Ingredients
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup hempseeds
- 1 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 1 cup sesame seeds
- ½ cup coconut oil, melted
- ½ cup sun butter
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ¼ cup salt (if sun butter is unsalted)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325° F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix together oats, hempseeds, sun flower seeds, sesame seeds and salt, if using. Set aside.
- In a smaller bowl, add the melted coconut oil, sun butter, and maple syrup and stir until well combined.
- Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and coat everything well.
- Add the granola mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evening, allow everything to touch. This will allow the granola to be chunky!
- Bake the granola for 25 to 35 minutes until sizzly and things begin to brown.
- Let cool before breaking up into pieces. Store in fridge for the longest lasting results!
