Have you ever tried a kombucha float?!! If yes, you know what’s up. If not… LISTEN! You need to stop, drop and roll on over to the store to get the two ingredients for this sweet treat. This is not rocket science, but it is the perfect float for anyone! Especially if you’re a millennial — it’s basically your dream float. The flavor is dictated by the fizzy goodness of kombucha. So choose your fav flav. And I promise you any flavored kombucha will work! Fruity, herby, veggie (yes, there are veggie-infused kombuchas!) — whatever you choose… your float’s on the way! And I’m not going to say this is a health food or anything, but kombucha does have probiotics. Soooo maybe consider this a smidgen more beneficial to health than the traditional alternative. If anything it’s healthy for your soul.
A kombucha float is sooooo easy. I feel silly posting it as a recipe. But, in the event you’ve never tried it and feel confused and/or intrigued, I got you! Now take a look at this beauty…
I know, it’s so pretty!! The blue color comes from GT’s Sacred Life. And it’s so good and brilliantly blue. The product photo on the link I shared doesn’t fully capture the gorgeous deep color from the blue spirulina used. Oh. Em. Geeeee. It tastes great too. But come on with that color! Combining it with the vanilla ice cream makes it look like an actual sky!
Step 1: The Ice Cream
First things first. I haven’t posted any ice cream recipes yet. I know. I’m sorry. But we are about to move, and well, my ice cream maker is just gonna have to make its summer 2022 debut a little later this year. But in lieu of homemade, I really enjoy Cosmic Bliss (I think they are formerly Coconut Bliss, just with coconut sugar instead of agave — even better in my book!!).
Step 2: The Booch
Now when it comes to kombucha, I have two brands I often default to because they’ve got great flavors and they always seem to be on sale (double win!). I love Brew Dr (formerly Townsends for my PDX and OG ‘bucha peeps). PS, I liked the Island Mango which is one of my favs of theirs. I also really like GT’s kombucha. They’re always so vibrant in color. Plus they have select collections that have NO CANE SUGAR!! Added bonus, I used their empty bottles as a part of table centerpieces when I got married back in the day.
Step 3: Get Your Float On
Once you’ve got the two essential ingredients, just scoop your ice cream into your glass. And pour over your kombucha! I like a 1:1 ratio of ice cream to kombucha. After that, all you need is a straw and/or spoon and a sunny spot to enjoy that goodness.
I hope you give this a try and play with the flavors! You might find a new favorite for your summer enjoyment.
Kombucha Float
Ingredients
- 1-3 scoops nondairy vanilla ice cream (the number of scoops will be determined by how big they are!)
- 1 cup kombucha of choice
Instructions
- Scoop your vanilla ice cream into a glass.
- Pour your kombucha of choice over the top. I find a 1:1 ratio of ice cream to kombucha is ideal. But adjust as you wish.
- Enjoy with a spoon and straw!
